A form of congestion that is the accumulation of blood in the veins and capillaries of a dependent part of the body due to gravitational effects—in this case, the anal area. This term is often used interchangeably with anal venous congestion; however, venous pooling is a specific form of venous congestion. For more information, see anal venous congestion .
