A highly sensitive laboratory technique/test used to detect proteins (i.e., antigens) through serum electrophoretic analysis. Often used as a follow-up test to assist with the diagnosis of a condition (e.g., confirmatory human immunodeficiency virus [HIV] or Lyme disease testing).
