Acronym for Eutectic Mixture of Local Anesthetic cream, a combination of lidocaine and prilocaine in a topical cream. Used to provide pain relief during procedures, such as intravenous catheter insertion, phlebotomy, or giving injections. Usually applied to intact skin or outer genital structures to temporarily anesthetize the skin and surrounding areas.
