All external genital structures not contained within the internal cavities of the body (e.g., within the vagina). Includes the penis, scrotum, and perineum for males and the mons pubis, clitoris, labia majora, labia minora, hymen, and perineum for females. Depending on the source, the urethral meatus in both males and females and the Bartholin glands in females may also be included.
