A descriptive term referring to a person (heterosexual or cisgender) who confronts heterosexism, sexism, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and heterosexual/cisgender privilege in themselves and others out of concern for the wellbeing of LGBTQIA people. An ally may confront these -isms, -phobias, and privileges out of concern for the wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, and asexual people.
