A registered nurse (RN) who has completed an accredited graduate level-education program that prepares him or her with advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities specifically to provide care as a nurse practitioner in acute care settings (e.g., emergency department [ED], intensive care unit [ICU], post-acute care).
