Examination of the anal canal and lower rectum with the use of a lubricated anoscope and light source to screen, diagnose, and evaluate problems such as anal pain. Results of anoscopy may include but are not limited to normal tissue, inflammation, fissures, abscesses, polyps, hemorrhoids, and cancer.
