A descriptive term conveying that a procedure does not produce injury or trauma. May also be used to describe an injury (e.g., bone or muscle) resulting from nontraumatic causes, such as degenerative or congenital conditions (e.g., atraumatic fractures, atraumatic shoulder instability, congenital anomalies).
