Samples collected specifically from the cervix using a cotton-tipped applicator (swab) or other type of collection device (e.g., rayon, synthetic, or foam swabs). During a forensic-medical examination, samples may be collected for medical and/or forensic analysis. Samples for forensic analysis should be collected from the cervical os. Specifically differentiated from other collected samples as it delineates the sample being collected from a specific anatomical location, the cervix, as opposed to other anatomical locations, such as the vagina (i.e., posterior fornix).
