A single round or oval ulcer that is often asymptomatic and has no purulent discharge. A chancre is a primary lesion of syphilis; typically indicate the presence of syphilis. Lesions are found most often on the external genitalia, but are also commonly present in the vaginal, rectal, and sometimes, oral cavities.
