Developed by Huffman in 1969, this is a four-phase developmental staging system based on the relative estrogen effect on the female, namely the female genitalia. Stage 1 is postnatal regression (0 months – 2 months), Stage 2 is early childhood (2 months – 7 years), Stage 3 is late childhood (7 years – 11 years), and Stage 4 is premenarche (11 years – 12 years).
