A broad-spectrum antibiotic drug and classification of antibiotic medications used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. In relation to sexual assault, tetracycline may be used to treat gonorrhea or chlamydia. Contraindicated in pregnant women and in children due to permanent discoloration of the tooth enamel. Doxycycline is another commonly used tetracycline.
